The Best News

Andrew was hired today as a Mechanical Engineer for Van Doren Sales in East Wenatchee, Wa. We are so happy and excited for him. His first big job out of college. And it is a great company to work for. This company works out of several states and sells machinery overseas also. They design and build fruit sorting and packaging machines. He will be very happy there, we are sure.

Windstorm

You will notice on the picture of the front of the house that some of the roofing paper is gone. Saturday night we had a tremendous wind storm and some of the paper was ripped off. The roofers are due to repaper and put on the composite roofing material Friday or Monday.

Windows are in!

Doesn't it look great with the windows and doors? I love it! The electrical inspection was today and we passed. I can't wait to see what gets done tomorrow. Rich and I will be finalizing our appliances and selecting our lighting fixtures tomorrow also.

Rich and his New Toy

What? You traded in your FA18 Navy Jet for a KUBOTA???? Really! Rich has been talking about getting a tractor for a year now. He finally wheeled and dealed and got one. It is cool! It has a front loader and a back hoe. He also ordered the snow blower attachment so he can keep the road clear and I can go to work during the winter. YEAH! Best of all: it is an automatic and easy to use, so even I can drive it. But I'll keep that one quiet so I won't have to clear the road to get to work. Rich will be spending the next few weeks getting to know the machine and then, start trenching out the ditch a little more to catch the fall and spring run off.

Electrician is hard at work

The electrician and his two people have been busy this week at the house with wiring. They will finish on Monday and the inspection is Tuesday. One more thing complete. I really wish they would get the soffets in and painted soon. This must be done before the composite roofing goes on and the windows go in. By the way, the windows and doors are up there stored in the basement.

Rich and I spent 3 1/2 hours at the design center yesterday selecting tile, carpet, vinyl, etc. It was overwhelming, but I think we did a great job. I think everything is going to look great.

Getting some exercise

I've started walking up and down the mountain road every day. It is about a mile, but with the increase in elevation it is a great work out, really gets the heart rate up. It goes up much faster if someone goes with me and we talk while we walk. Tonight, I met the drywall installer coming up to check out the job. He told me he would be starting in about a week. Rich and I met with the electrician on Thursday and spent 3.5 hours on a walk through to select sites for switches, plugs, light fixture positions, etc. He is starting on Monday and will be done the same week. Things are starting to move a little faster now and none too soon. There is snow on the mountain peaks and the nights are getting into the 40's. The daytime temps are in the low 80's. I just love Indian Summer. Shorts during the day and jeans at night.

HVAC complete

Here is a view of the heating and AC duct work in the basement ceiling. The installer told me he could keep the vents above the ceiling height and he did. So, no dropped ceiling in our rec room or the basement bedrooms.

Roof is ready for the composite shingles.

Yes, I still have party points!

We entertained again last night at the property. It was a chilly night and we had to get out our jackets for this one, but we all had a great time. The food was delicious. It was dry as there is paper on the roof now. I took some very cool pictures of the fog rising out of the valleys once the storm passed. Not only good football weather, but good hunting weather. The Elk like this kind of weather.

Are You Ready for some Football?

Fall has arrived it seems. It was foggy, cloudy and rainy all weekend. But that just meant I could stay inside and watch football all day. GO MOUNTAINEERS! I watched several games and enjoyed the entire Saturday.

Half Walls in the kitchen

One is the bar island that separates the kitchen from the dining room. The other wall, where the kitchen sink will be looks through the breakfast room out the east window.

I've posted quite a few pictures tonight.

You may have to click back to older posts to see the postings from today and yesterday. I put several on individually. It looks like all that is left for the plumbing rough in is the gas line. The roofing material was on site tonight so maybe they will start the roof tomorrow.

Sorry this picture is so dark. It is about 5:45pm and dusk is setting in.

My NEW Favorite Photo

Rich took this picture from the SW ridge looking NE over to the house. He was checking out his Elk hunting spot. Elk season opens next week and lucky for Rich and Andrew, our property is in the "zone". Since it is private property, no one else can hunt there. The guys are determined to "fill the freezer" for winter. I'll keep you posted on that one.

Porches are taking shape

We will have two porches. One is off the master bedroom and the other is L shaped and wraps around the house from the dining room to the kitchen area. Right now the joists and posts are in place. Once the siding goes on the composite decking will be laid down.

More Exterior Pics

These pictures show the front exterior Gables with fascia boards.

Rich had some extra time on his hands for photos

This is in the garage. We are putting in a dog wash/shoe and boot clean up station. I know it will come in handy after I start my landscaping projects.
