We will truly miss the friends we have made in Virginia and will always have our door open in Washington for visitors. I will miss my patients and work mates at Dr. Grieco's. After 6 years, they are another part of my family.
I am so looking forward to living close to my mom and 3 sisters. Rich and I have been away for over 20 years. The Navy kept us moving and holiday visits were not abundant. I hope they can handle having me close!
Just looking at the pictures I have already posted and in the photos to be posted in the future, I'm sure you will see the same beauty Rich and I saw the first time we toured the land. Not only the views, but the quiet solitude is so refreshing, the wide, dark sky at night filled with an abundance of bright stars and the wildlife. We have seen deer, elk, raccoons and rabbits. We have seen the tracks of black bear and cougars. They will likely stay away once the action starts up and people are moving about.
In the afternoons of summer, the warm breezes blow over the grasses and wildflowers, as well as waving the large branches of the pine trees . Ahhhh, sitting on the deck with a nice glass of Washington wine. Winter? A different story! The snow will fall and cover all the grasses. The cold wind will blow the snow out of the pine tree branches. But it is still quiet and beautiful. This calls for hot buttered rum or brandy in front of a warm fire.
